数年ぶりにロンドンに行ってきました。イースト・ロンドンが盛り上がっていて驚きました。貧困層の街にアーティストたちが住み、やがて開発され豊かな人々が流れ込んでくるジェントリフィケーション状態だそうです。
古い地下鉄の狭さは日本にそっくりですが、新しい駅は広々としています。新しい地下駅も狭く作ってしまう日本と比べると、大きな違いは既存のその狭さに問題意識を持っているか持ってないかということでしょうか。
